I recently moved from the city to the country and one of the biggest differences I noticed is how dark it gets at night. In the city, blackout shades aside, it only gets so dark, what with street lights, lights on neighbouring houses, and depending on where you live, traffic.
But in the country, when you turn out the lights, it is DARK. Unless there is a full moon, or the stars are particularly bright, it is blackout, without the shades. But even then, if you look up, you can still see a multitude of stars on almost any given night, lighting the sky simply because they were created to shine.
Some people feel the times we’re in right now are the darkest we’ve ever seen. And they may be right. But it’s in that level of darkness that light is best observed, just like those stars in the night sky. You may think your light is not very bright at all, but it’s in the darkest of nights that even the dimmest of lights can be seen.
It might not look like it, but this is your time to shine. Every one of us can be a light to someone. A neighbour, a client, a stranger. Even in the darkest of times, simply because, like the stars, we too were created to shine.
