If you work from a computer or laptop most of the day, then I don’t have to tell you how easy it is to waste countless hours on Facebook or Instagram.
While there’s nothing wrong with a little harmless entertainment throughout the day, watching and re-watching that hilarious video of the pug riding a coin-fed pony at the grocery store can lead to a sudden realization that it’s 3 p.m. and you’ve gotten nothing done today.
Strict Workflow is a Chrome extension that operates on the Pomodoro method of time management. It’s basically a timer that repeats a 25-minute work cycle, followed by a 5-minute break. If you find yourself tempted to check Facebook or any other site you deem necessary to avoid, you will gently but firmly be told it’s time to work, not play.
If you know this is something you need, you’re not alone. I use it to eliminate distractions, increase productivity, and focus on the project at hand. It’s also a good reminder to get up from my screen every 25 minutes and stretch, move or walk around, making it an indispensable tool for work and life improvement.
