If you’re putting yourself out there, chances are you’ve had your first hater. Your latest post could get 999 positive comments but that one comment about your nose, your bad-hair-day, or your voice being a bit too nasal tends to be the one you remember…and dwell on.
Why do haters have so much power over us? For starters, haters have only as much power as we give them. You can choose to ignore their comments or block them (and sometimes that is necessary), but if you’re curious enough to dig a little deeper, what you find might surprise you.
Haters, in the right context, can be a blessing in disguise. They sometimes reveal an area we’re lacking confidence in.
Ask yourself, is there any truth to what they’re saying? And, if so, how can I grow in this area?
Short of getting a nose-job or a new hairstyle, you might end up working on your self-confidence and actually come out stronger in the end. When that happens, don’t forget to thank your hater for making you a better person.
In this video, I discuss a few tips on how to handle haters, from my own personal experience. Plus, I’ll talk about how to guard yourself from hateful comments that are negatively affecting your self-confidence.
